Doug Kingma earned a B.S. Architecture degree from the University
of Virginia and entered the building business immediately after
college. His background includes working for both small and large
builders in Northern Virginia before moving to California, the
birthplace of Kingma Developers. In 1991, Doug, his wife Debbie
and their two children returned to Virginia, convinced that “Charlottesville
was the best place” for his children to grow up. Kingma
Developers has been busy building extraordinary homes ever since.
Since moving to Charlottesville, Doug has twice served as President
of the Blue Ridge Home Builders Association and on the Board of
Directors for the National Association of Home Builders. Doug
has also chaired the Green Building Committee at the local association
level and helped adopt the EarthCraft House program as the standard
of excellence for healthy homes and green building techniques
in the state of Virginia.
